A poker promotional racecar driven by poker star Phil Hellmuth crashed in the Rio Hotel and Casino parking lot during a show late Sunday evening. Hellmuth hit a cinderblock barricade clocked at 172 mph, which was recorded on video. He escaped the crash relatively unscathed, and is in satisfactory condition reports on Monday morning claim. The car is said to have sustained serious damage. Hellmuth, who is competing in the 2007 World Series of Poker, is expected to be well enough to continue. Officials are expected to investigate the cause of this accident beginning Monday. Various websites report a bystander as saying "He should never have been behind the wheel of that death trap. The brakes appeared to have failed. Either that or he is going blind!"
